Back & Neck Injury Lawyers in Philadelphia
Experienced Attorneys for Injured Pennsylvania Workers
Jeffrey S. Gross and our firm's qualified associate attorneys have focused on representing injured workers in Pennsylvania for more than 17 years. We manage every step of the workers' compensation process for you - filing paperwork, scheduling medical appointments, consulting with medical experts and negotiating on your behalf in order to make sure that you receive the best care and the most benefits. This leaves you free to concentrate on recovering from your injury, without worrying about your situation.
Some serious neck injuries and back injuries our lawyers are familiar with include:
- Herniated disks
- Bulging or protruding disks
- Nerve impingement
- Cervical fractures
- Dislocated vertebrae
- Spinal cord injuries and paralysis
- Aggravation of pre-existing back or neck conditions
We represent clients whose injuries necessitate back fusion surgery, laminectomy surgery, discectomy surgery, and other back surgeries.
One tactic that employers and workers' compensation insurers use to minimize or deny benefits is to mischaracterize serious injuries. For instance, after an injured worker with a herniated disc is examined by one of his or her employer's or insurer's panel physicians, the employer or insurance company simply mischaracterizes the injury as only a sprain or strain of the back or neck.
Of course, the injury is more severe than that, and the employer, insurer and their doctors are aware of the truth. Unfortunately, when the worker seeks medical treatment later down the road for problems relating to the herniated disc, the insurance company denies the treatment as not being related to the original work injury of a strain and sprain of the back or neck, or tries to stop an injured worker's benefits by claiming that the strain and sprain has resolved. We do not want you to be fooled, as many injured workers are, into simply accepting a "diagnosis" that does not seem right and which may ultimately jeopardize your eligibility for benefits. If this has happened to you, our lawyers can act quickly to file a petition to change the accepted injury due to an incorrect description of that injury.
